Scientific reports

In this study, the biological functions of D. rotundifolia were explored in vitro following the treatment of bronchial epithelial cells, which are the potential targets of the pharmacological effects.

This study shows that Drosera can induce a change in mRNA expression that can be measured reliably and reproducibly. Low doses and homeopathic dilutions are now being investigated by means of molecular biology techniques for differential gene expression analysis and bioinformatics.

Screening in bronchial cells with RNA-seq analysis showed that low amounts of D. rotundifolia at a 3× dilution, which represents a dose commonly used in homeopathic and phytotherapeutic syrups, changed the expression of dozens of genes after 3 h, and this effect was amplified after 6 h of treatment. Validation with RT-qPCR confirmed the differential expression of the genes of interest and showed that after 6 h of D. rotundifolia 3× treatment, there was an increase in mRNA expression. Since RT-qPCR sensitivity is higher than that of RNA-seq, such results support the findings of the RNA-seq analysis, suggesting that treatment with D. rotundifolia × can be followed-up by the investigation of the expression of these genes.

Homeopathic Immunization against Leptospirosis in Cuba

A groundbreaking study of the successful use of homoeoprophylaxis in Cuba involving millions of people. The target disease, Leptospirosis, is endemic there and the study demonstrated the effectiveness of this safe and low cost method. Following on this experience a decision was made to undertake a massive HP immunisation of the total population against Swine Flu in 2009/10 involving over 9.8 million people.

Homeopathy: A 200 -Year Old Nanomedicine- Part 2

New evidence is emerging on the nature and properties of homeopathic medicines, or remedies. These findings indicate that the science of homeopathy is a form of nanomedicine, with the medicines capable of initiating changes in the physiological and biochemical dynamics of the animal as a complex adaptive system. Effects of Two Homeopathic Complexes on Bovine Sperm Mitochondrial Activity

Affiliations expand

Abstract

Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of two homeopathic complexes Ubichinon compositum® (Ubi comp) and Coenzyme compositum ad us. vet.® (CoQ10 comp) on bovine sperm mitochondrial activity.

Methods: Sperm viability, acrosomal integrity and sperm chromatin structure were estimated to detect the possible side effect of complexes on other sperm parameters.

Results: Mitochondrial activity was significantly enhanced by both Ubi comp (P<0.01) and CoQ10 comp (P<0.05). No effects were detected in other tested sperm parameters.

Conclusion: The tested homeopathic complex medicines stimulate the mitochondrial activity of bovine sperm without effects on their viability, acrosomal integrity or chromatin structure. The possibility that this translates into improved fertilization capacity in artificial insemination should investigated.

Homeopathic Remedies With Antineoplastic Properties Have Immunomodulatory Effects in Experimental Animals

Affiliations expand

Abstract

Background: Our previous work suggests that Thuja occidentalis, Carcinosinum and Ruta graveolens have antineoplastic properties. The mechanism of this action has not previously been studied. We studied the hypothesis that the mechanism of action is through the immune modulation.

Methods: We evaluated the effects of Thuja occidentalis, Carcinosinum and Ruta graveolens 1M, 200c and 30c on the immune system of Balb/c mice. The homeopathic preparations were administered orally for ten consecutive days. Haematological parameters (Total White Blood Cell (WBC) Count, Differential Count and Haemoglobin content), haematopoietic parameters (bone marrow cellularity and α-esterase positive cells) and immune parameters for antibody response and lymphoid cell proliferation were assessed using standard methods. Results were analysed by statistical comparison with the control.

Results: We observed significant enhancement of haematological parameters including total WBC count, haematopoietic parameters such as bone marrow cellularity and the number of α-esterase positive cells, other parameters of immune response such as circulating antibody titre and the number of plaque forming cells (PFC), particularly with higher dilutions of Thuja and Ruta. Enhanced proliferation of B and T lymphoid cells was also observed. No toxic effects were observed.

Conclusions: The results suggest immunomodulatory activity of homeopathic preparations in high dilution. This may be a mechanism through which homeopathic preparations act.

Leading Science Journal Publishes Study Confirming Homeopathy Helps with the Effects of Sleep Deprivation

Posted on November 13, 2013 by homeopathyresource

For century’s homeopaths have been using homeopathic remedies to help individuals with sleep problems. Cocculus indica, (abbreviated cocc) is one such homeopathic remedy.

Scientists at The Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Behavioural Neuroscience Lab,  in Haifa, Israel concluded that “the treatment with cocc 30c recovers both short-term behavioral and the long-term hormonal modulations following SD[sleep deprivation].” The article on the successful experiment was published in Neuroscience and calls the homeopathic remedy treatment- “nanoparticle treatment”.

The homeopathic treatment of otitis media in children-comparisons with conventional therapy

http://www.sandiegohomeopathy.com/downloads/Otitis.pdf

In The Lancet: more effective than placebo

In 1997, The Lancet published a thorough meta-analysis which showed that, of 89 clinical trials, 44 reported homeopathy to be significantly more effective than placebo;1 none of the 89 trials found placebo to be more effective than homeopathy. Even accounting for any publication bias towards ‘positive’ trials, the authors came to the conclusion that clinical benefit from homeopathic therapy cannot be explained by the placebo effect alone. Similar general conclusions were drawn from other recent meta-analyses or systematic reviews of homeopathy.2–4Further research is needed to identify, in particular, those medical conditions that respond most effectively to homeopathy.

Homeopathy in ear infections

The treatment of ear infections was conducted in India and showed that homeopathy out weighed allopathic treatment. (Sinha MN, et al. Randomized controlled pilot study to compare Homeopathy and Conventional therapy in Acute Otitis Media. Homeopathy 2012 Jan;101(1):5–12).  Eighty-one children were randomly assigned to a homeopathically or conventionally treated group. The trial was also “blinded” — neither the parents nor the researchers knew who belonged to which group. Conventional treatment involved use of anti-inflammatories, analgesic, and fever-reducing medicines for three days, followed by antibiotics if the child hadn’t improved by at least 50%. Homeopathic treatment used LM potencies.

Homeopathy for depression and anxiety

A randomized, double-blind trial comparing homeopathy to Prozac (Fluoxetine) in the treatment of moderate to severe depression took place at a state medical school in Brazil. It found homeopathic treatment comparable to Prozac on all measured parameters (actually, homeopathic treatment was superior on all parameters, though not in a degree rising to “statistical significance”). Additionally, “a higher percentage of patients treated with Fluoxetine reported troublesome side effects.”  http://goo.gl/6LDql

A 2007 German prospective study published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found a specific homeopathic product to be comparable (actually slightly more effective) when compared to Ativan (Lorazepam) for the treatment of various nervous conditions (insomnia, distress, anxiety, restless, burnout, etc.) http://goo.gl/BJwqe

Posted on December 17, 2015 by homeopathyresource

An older study using two homeopathic remedies to determine if they could stop or prevent the growth of cancerous tumors previously induced in mice showed a very positive result for the homeopathic remedies versus placebo.
